I love when God takes me to the gentler side of popular destinations. Travel is already so hectic with all of its rushing. But arriving at a place, seeing the life the locals live, and learning about it from their point of view? That kind of trip feels like you’re truly getting to know the place!

What is Quiet Travel?
Quiet Travel is about slimming down your itinerary to make time for God.
His goodness is always there, but the stress of travel makes it hard to soak it in.
When we release our expectations of “doing it all” and our fears that we only have one chance to travel, we give the pressure to God.
Then we can sit back, relax, and enjoy the trip for everything it is.

How to Get There
One of the things I love the most about off-season travel is getting to see the beauty nature holds. My adventure was a spontaneous weekend trip in February, and the Spanish winter was lovely!
We took an early morning flight from Barcelona, where it was a cool 55°F (12°C) with a sky full of stars. The trip took less than 2 hours. We landed at Ibiza Airport as the sun rose.

Staying in Eivissa
My accommodation was a beautiful little spot in Eivissa, or Ibiza, the capital city of the island. Imagine hardwood floors and old pipes, tiny stair steps, and a building sandwiched between boutiques—the quintessential Spanish stay.
It’s located in an area called Dalt Vila, right on the edge of the Balearic Sea.
Day 1
In the Morning
Looking back, it’s not hard to fit a lot of activities into your itinerary. The key is to wake up early!
After breakfast, we walked to Ses Figueretes Beach to watch the sunrise.
Ibiza in the winter is breathtaking—pristine white walls that glimmer in the cold sunlight, crunchy leaves that skip over the ground. And at 8 a.m., it’s the elderly couples who are out enjoying walks on the water.
Hiking
The beach turns into a cliff that overlooks the sea, and it is beautiful. The area is decorated with cacti, flowers, and rocks that almost look like they were made to stand on.

Sightseeing
Eivissa is full of historical sites. This stroll took me around the base of Baluard de Sant Pere, a medieval fortress and UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The view from the bottom of the fortress is incredible! It’s made of stones the size of a man’s torso, one stacked on top of the other until it towers over the city.

Time to Relax
In the afternoon I visited Friends Kitchen, a lounge and bar on a long road near the beach. The day was overcast and not many people were out, giving my friends and I plenty of space to enjoy our pitcher of sangria! It was a wonderful place to relax, and inside are arcade games and more so the entire family can have fun!

Dinner was at TKO Tacos, one of the best Mexican restaurants in Eivissa!

Day 2
Morning Walk
On day 2, I took the bus to Sant Antoni de Portmany, the second-largest city on the island and located opposite from Eivissa. Their famous harbor, Sant Antoni (named after the city), was full of yachts waiting for the spring.
The promenade is lined with orange trees, restaurants, fountains and palms that make for a beautiful day outdoors.

An Afternoon at the Beach
I spent the rest of the day at the Calo des Moro beach, taking pictures, walking on the rocks and watching the sunset. In the cold, a blanket, warm coats and snacks make for the perfect day!
