A flash of red light appeared above a little French village, lasted only milliseconds, and vanished. The footage showed a rare phenomenon known as a red sprite above Montemaggiore in Corsica. The actual storm was hundreds of miles away near Barcelona, Spain. Talk about the beauty of creation! Read more about the remarkable footage from AccuWeather.

If you love nature, keep scrolling! I’ve got a list of natural wonders in France to see.

Where Nature Puts on a Show

The French Alps

Head to the Écrins National Park for glaciers and dramatic valleys. The scenery changes with the seasons, with wildflowers in the summer and snow-covered mountains in the winter. It is the kind of landscape that makes you pause, look up, and remember just how magnificent the Creator is.

The Verdon Gorge

In southeastern France, the Gorges du Verdon are famous for turquoise water winding between the limestone cliffs. Get a new perspective on the viewpoints, hike the trails, or head to the water when conditions are good! The contrast between the bright river and rugged rock formations is almost too beautiful to be real.

The Pyrenees National Park

Along the French-Spanish border, the Pyrenees mountain region offers waterfalls, clear lakes, slopes, and wildlife. Pack your walking shoes and take a trail to see the landscape up close. Each bend hides another surprise!

The Calanques of Provence

Near Marseille, the Calanques National Park combines pale limestone cliffs, Mediterranean-blue water, and fragrant flora for a stunning lake view. Check the weather and restrictions before heading out!

The Forests of France

For a different kind of beauty, explore the storied Brocéliande (or Paimpont) forest in Brittany or the rocky woodland trails of Fontainebleau near Paris. Ancient trees, moss-covered stones, and birdsong create a lovely walk-in-the-garden atmosphere… if you catch my drift.
