If you’re headed to Spain, Costa Brava is the place to go. Located near the French border, this region is known for its picturesque landscapes, rocky coves, and sweet pace of life.

How to Get There
To begin, you’ll need to either rent a car or take the train. In Spain, national railway Renfe connects cities across the country. Both high-speed and regional options are available.
For this kind of day trip, I recommend renting a car so you can easily travel from town to town.

The Itinerary
Blanes, 8 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Begin your day in Blanes, where stunning teal water waits under jagged cliffs.
Have breakfast at a seaside café overlooking the Mediterranean, then make your way to the Marimurtra Botanical Garden. Just above the water, the gardens boast vast ocean views and tree-lined paths.
End your time with a visit to the Castell de Sant Joan, where the views stretch down the coastline, all the way to Barcelona on a clear day.
Tip: Wear comfortable shoes to the castle.
Lloret de Mar, 12 p.m. – 3 p.m.
Next, head to Lloret de Mar for a sun-filled afternoon at Santa Cristina Beach. Be sure to bring along your towels, books, and change of clothes.
Tossa de Mar, 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.
End your day in Tossa de Mar, one of the most beautiful towns along the coast.
Begin at Castell de Tossa de Mar, a famous seaside fortress that looks out over the water. Its stone paths create an easy walk to the top, where you can take in the views as the day becomes evening.
From there, settle in for a traditional Mediterranean dinner by the sea.
