A good wardrobe starts with knowing what to put in it. A healthy home is reflected in the people who live there. And a life rooted in Christ? It begins with the heart.

Women give so much of ourselves to the things we love. We invest in our relationships, nurture our ambitions, care for our families, and make plans for the future. We think about what we wear, where we go, and the kind of women we want to become. But beneath all of that is a more personal question: What is happening in our hearts?

Scripture has plenty to say about that. God is interested in more than appearances. He cares about our hearts, our desires, and the choices we make when no one else is watching.

This is your invitation to slow down, open your Bible, and give Jesus a little attention.

1. Beauty Begins Within

“Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.” — Matthew 5:8 (KJV)

Your journal prompt: What does a pure heart look like in your everyday life? Where are you tempted to prioritize other people’s approval over obedience to God?

2. Be Selective About What Gets In

“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” — Proverbs 4:23 (KJV)

Your journal prompt: Which influences are helping you grow in Christ, and which are making it harder to live according to His Word? What boundary or habit might need to change?

3. Make Room for a Fresh Start

“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” — Psalm 51:10 (KJV)

Your journal prompt: Is there something you need to confess to God, make right with another person, or change in your daily life? Write a prayer asking Him to renew your heart and help you take the next step.

4. Check Your Priorities

“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” — Matthew 6:21 (KJV)

Your journal prompt: What currently receives the greatest share of your time, attention, and energy? What is one practical change you can make this week to put God first?

5. Let Your Life Speak

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” — Matthew 5:16 (KJV)

Your journal prompt: Where could your words or actions reflect Jesus more clearly this week? Think of one person you can serve, encourage, forgive, or treat with greater kindness.

Your Five-Minute Heart Check

Make a cup of tea, find a comfortable spot, and spend a few minutes with these five passages. You don’t need elaborate answers! Come before God as you are.

  • Matthew 5:8: Am I seeking God’s approval above the approval of others?
  • Proverbs 4:23: What am I allowing to shape my heart and mind?
  • Psalm 51:10: Where do I need God’s forgiveness and renewal?
  • Matthew 6:21: Do my daily priorities reflect what I say matters most?
  • Matthew 5:16: How can I reflect the character of Jesus in my relationships?

Write your answers without worrying about how they sound. This is your time with God.

A Prayer for a Pure Heart

Heavenly Father, search my heart and show me what needs to change. Help me recognize the thoughts, desires, and habits that pull me away from You. Give me the courage to turn from sin, the wisdom to guard my heart, and the humility to receive Your correction. Teach me to put You

In Jesus’ name, amen.
